$2.9 Trillion Dollars [Feb. 5th, 2007|04:19 pm]
Well, let's just say three.

Three trillion dollars. That's how much Bush is spending on the US military, mainly to try and control Iraq.

If we were to split that money amongst every human on the planet, that'd be about $500 each. Not a lot for most people reading this, but for a huge portion of the world's population, that'd be several year's worth of 'salaries'.

Now, if we were to take the privileged out of the equation, that'd be quite a lot more for each person in need.

Now, what if that three trillion were spent solving world problems. How many do you think we could wipe out practically over night?

If that were spent on getting water to people, do we honestly think there'd be a single person without clean drinking water? Or food? I'm sure this could provide both food and water for those who need it. Shelter as well. Perhaps some clothing, and programs to help enable people to live where they are..

This is worldwide. Perhaps Americans want to be selfish..even so, three trillion dollars would no doubt get every homeless person off the street with a full belly and more positive outlook on life. Schools could be wonderful places to be, and all could be cared for with health care.

With three trillion dollars, the US could have become a model citizen of the world, demonstrating what freedom and democracy is really about. But no, selfish George Bush is busy killing people in another country, supposedly giving them the democracy he's draining away from the US.

Sad stuff, that.

The Onion is Funny [Jan. 31st, 2007|11:30 am]
hehe:

White House Quietly Retracts Entire State Of The Union Address

WASHINGTON, DC—In a brief statement faxed to major media outlets at approximately 11:50 p.m. Friday, the White House retracted the entire 5,600-word State of the Union address delivered by President Bush last Tuesday. "This includes all components of the address, and is not limited to the president's congratulations to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi or his plan to give more Americans affordable health care through tax cuts, which has since been deemed infeasible," the statement read in part. "Furthermore, the president's urge for bipartisanship as well as his final statement about the state of the union being 'strong' are hereby stricken from the public record." Like the State of the Union address itself, the White House's retraction has not yet become a significant national news story.

It's true tho..i was looking for something on the speech the next day, and didn't find much.. It surely wasn't highlighted by CBC...

Meat Eaters [Jan. 22nd, 2007|10:35 am]
Seen this?

http://www.alternet.org/story/47007/

A 'review' of the book 'Bloodless Revolution', where the reviewer attempts to justify his meat-eating...really all very stupid, which leads me to this conclusion:

Even notice how the arguments for eating meat are getting more and more stupid and pointless? I conclude that those with higher intellect are going veggie, leaving the imbeciles (like this guy) in the trenches to attempt to 'defend' meat-eating.

Religious Nutballs [Jan. 9th, 2007|04:03 pm]
Check out this story:

B.C. school yoga classes slammed

A school program to fight childhood obesity that includes yoga is drawing complaints from some Christian parents in the Quesnel area in B.C.'s Cariboo region.

Full Story: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2007/01/09/bc-yoga.html

This is why i dislike Christians, and other religious morons so much... Look at what they're saying. These people are *nuts*.

Yoga is not a 'religion', at least any more than hockey or baseball, which no doubt has a much larger, fervorous following and worthy of more concern than freaking YOGA.

If these empty-headed religerous mouth-pieces had their way, our schools would also be teaching that the earth is flat, and the sun revolves around the earth.

Progress is constantly being made, and so many 'facts' from the Bible have been utterly dismissed..when is the one about 'god' going to get the boot??? I can hardly wait.

Psycho Landlord [Dec. 12th, 2006|05:18 pm]
Here's the latest event that i feel the need to document.

Back in Sept, there was a big kafuffle about my empty water bottles (you know, the big water ones) and my bike cart..it was an inane ordeal, but ended with me keeping my bike cart in the drive way, and two water bottles in the carport behind it.

Today, she calls and asks me why the water bottles are in the driveway, and that i'm to move them into the shed. This, after her freaking out because i was keeping them in the shed (after she told me to, none-the-less.)

I tell her that the reason they're in the car port is because this is what she told me to do. As i'm explaining this to her, she hangs up.

So, i go up to her front door, and knock. She doesn't answer. I call back, and leave a message, and it's very clear i'm quite agitated. I explain to her that she TOLD me to keep the bottles in the carport, and i have a LETTER from her indicating as much. I also tell her that it's not cool to hang up in the middle of a conversation, not answer her door, and then not answer the phone either.

She calls back several minutes later telling me 'i just got your message..' She explains that she had to go to the washroom, so i ask 'what, you just hang up on people mid-conversation to go to the washroom?' And she says she was downstairs, heard the knocking, but that 'so and so' has been knocking at her door, so she didn't answer. I asked her why she didn't call me back after leaving hanging up mid-conversation, and she started making up some other excuse..gaaaah..

Finally, i ask SO WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO WITH THE BOTTLES? She asks me 'where have they been?' I told her outside since September, in the same spot. She said 'fine, just leave them there then.'

WTF?? Is there a 'ratemylandlord' type website? I think i'll interview and request references from my next landlord..holy hell..
